          General Dive Information

          4 basic positions in diving

          • Straight: meaning body not bent at the knees or hips
          • Pike: body bent at hips, knees straight
          • Tuck: body bent at knees and hips, tight ball
          • Free: may incorporate any or all of the positions

          5 Series of Dives

          • 100 - Front Dives
          • 200 - Back Dives
          • 300 - Reverse Dives
          • 400 - inward dives
          • 500 - forward or back approach and will include a half twist or more

Each dive has a degree of difficulty attached to it, often called “DD”. The DD is calculated to determine the overall score for the diver, multiplied by the 3 mid-ranged scores.

Example: 101A Front Dive Straight – DD 1.4

Scores: 5, 6, 5.5, 5, 5.5 – We remove the highest and lowest scores, so the 6 and the 5 are removed from the math.

          Math: 5 + 5.5 + 5.5 = 16 x 1.4 = 22.4, which becomes the dive’s total score.

          Dive Scoring

          Judging:

Each dive is scored by 5 judges. Each week the home team must provide 1 official and 1 judge and the away team must provide 3 judges

          Scoring Ranges:

          • Good to Very Good to Excellent: 7 to 10 points
          • Satisfactory: 5-6.5 points
          • Deficient: 2.5 to 4.5 points
          • Unsatisfactory: 0.5 to 2 points
          • Failed: 0 points.

Each dive has a degree of difficulty attached to it, often called “DD”. The DD is calculated to determine the overall score for the diver, multiplied by the 3 mid-ranged scores.

          • Example: 101A Front Dive Straight – DD 1.4
          • Scores: 5, 6, 5.5, 5, 5.5 – We remove the highest and lowest scores, so the 6 and the 5 are removed from the math.

          Math: 5 + 5.5 + 5.5 = 16 x 1.4 = 22.4, which the becomes the dive’s total score.

These scores are totaled for each dive to give the diver their total score and placement in their category.

          Meet Scoring

Teams receive points based on the placements of their divers in each category and gender. The points awarded are as follows:

          Points:

          1st Place: 5 points
          2nd Place: 3 points
          3rd Place: 1 point

At the end of the meet, the team with the most total points at the end of the meet wins.
