Stingray Code of Conduct and Standards
NVSL Standards of Conduct
The Stingrays honor the NVSL Standards of Conduct to guide behavior for promoting respect, fairness, civility, honesty, responsibility, and appropriate actions. These standards:
- Foster a positive environment at swim and dive meets.
- Establish respect for all participants, officials, and spectators.
- Produce positive learning outcomes and build team spirit.
- Enhance the sports of swimming and diving.
Parents, Swimmers/Divers, and Coaches Guidelines

Display Courtesy & Sportsmanship
Follow the NVSL Bylaws, demonstrating courtesy, goodwill, humility, courtesy and sportsmanship.

Conduct Yourself Respectfully
Behave in a way that earns respect from your child, other swimmers, coaches, officials, and parents.

Support Through Positive Actions
Communicate and act positively towards swimmers, coaches, officials, and fellow parents.

Respect Meet Facilities
Adhere to the rules of the pool you’re visiting and show respect for the facilities.

Maintain Self-Control
Allow swimmers to swim, coaches to coach, officials to officiate, and parents to parent.

Respect Officials’ Authority
Even if you disagree with a decision, respect the officials and their authority. Refer to the NVSL Handbook for any disputes.

Avoid Negative Behavior
Profanity, inappropriate language, name-calling, abusive language, or intimidating remarks/gestures toward anyone will not be tolerated.

Consequences for Misbehavior
Misconduct may lead to being asked to leave the pool for the meet duration. Repeat violations can result in multiple meet or full season suspension.
- Practice Humility
Show humility in victory and courtesy in defeat.
Swimmer/Diver & Coach Expectations
Swimmers/Divers:
- Sit with the team, cheer for teammates, and display good sportsmanship.
- Stay in the pool until every swimmer finishes the event and shake hands with the swimmers next to you.
Coaches:
- Provide positive, constructive feedback to swimmers and divers.
- Explain disqualifications to participants. Parents seeking more information should speak with a coach or official after the meet or at the next practice.
